The Role

We are seeking a full time Shop Technician to join our Bonnyville team. This hands-on position plays a key role in ensuring our equipment, fleet, and logistics operations run smoothly and safely.

You'll take ownership of the shop's workflows, organization, equipment readiness, and maintenance while supporting operations. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, is mechanically minded, detail-oriented, and energized by teamwork in a fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, clean, inspect, and test safety and support equipment prior to deployment to field operations.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on safety equipment, including but not limited to, gas detection, SCBA/SABAs, and breathing air trailers, to ensure reliability and compliance with company standards.
• Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with vendors or management when specialized repairs are required.
• Maintain accurate documentation for inspections, repairs, maintenance schedules, and equipment status logs.
• Conduct inventory management of parts, consumables, and rental equipment; ensure adequate stock levels for upcoming projects.
• Oversee shop and yard organization and housekeeping, maintaining a clean, safe, and well-structured workspace that supports efficiency and safety.
• Support fleet maintenance and coordination. Monitor service schedules, book maintenance appointments, track mileage, and manage vehicle documentation.
• Visit client sites to set up, inspect, or maintain equipment, ensuring safe and proper operation in the field.
• Hot-shot or transport equipment between Kinetic offices and client sites as needed, ensuring proper load securement and adherence to safety regulations.
• Collaborate with management and field teams to ensure all equipment is delivered, serviced, and returned in a timely manner.
• Support the Operations team to coordinate daily job logistics.
• Perform safety technician duties on site as assigned.
• Additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Qualifications & Skills

• Previous experience in equipment maintenance, repair, or shop operations (safety services, industrial, or oil & gas environment preferred).
• Experience and confidence in towing and backing in trailers.
• Strong mechanical aptitude – understands how equipment operates, can identify issues, and apply practical solutions.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and shifting timelines.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Exceptional attention to detail and pride in maintaining a clean, efficient, and reliable shop operation.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills; able to work effectively with team members, leadership, and clients.
• Strong commitment to safety and quality standards, with a proactive mindset toward continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Physically capable of lifting up to 60 lbs and performing hands-on, detailed work.
• Valid Class 5 driver's licence with a clean driver's abstract and an auto insurance history of a minimum of 3 years. Must qualify under Kinetic's auto insurance policy.
• Must be able to comply with Kinetic Safety's drug and alcohol policy.
• Must reside within daily commuting distance of Bonnyville or be willing to relocate.
