**Purchasing Coordinator**

**RESPONSIBILITIES AND WORK PERFORMED**:

- Review on an on-going basis, purchasing of all items.
- Processes inventory purchase orders, performs regular inventory reviews and provides forecasts to suppliers.
- Miscellaneous purchase orders; involves sourcing, investigating and approving new products for purchase and/or suppliers for cost effective options for all KEI.
- Control maintenance consumables, create RFQ/tenders and produce purchase orders to replenish maintenance consumables to optimum levels to support maintenance requirements.
- Cost reduction; ongoing benchmarking of vendor pricing/terms.
- According to quality standard requirements maintains vendor files, issues quality reports to suppliers as appropriate and follows up for resolution.
- Ensures supplier performance through daily monitoring and documentation on all deliveries, and performing 6 month reviews on all A and B class vendors.
- Company liaison with all vendors and suppliers; for price negations/contract renewals, invoice issues and MSDS control.
- Communicate with all other departments within the plant.
- Responsible for adhering to plant quality procedures in assigned job to meet customer requirements and customer specific requirements.
- Comply with all management systems to which KEI subscribes (ex. Quality and Environmental systems).
- Performs 6S (housekeeping) as required.
- Other duties as assigned.

**SKILLS REQUIRED**:

- Minimum 5 years experience in the field of manufacturing/industrial purchasing; automotive experience and 3 years of experience at the buyer level preferred.
- Post secondary education and/or relevant designation in purchasing or supply chain management an asset.
- Knowledge of product quality standards and the importance of your activities in achieving, maintaining, and improving quality, including customer requirements and the associated risks to customers of non-conforming products.
- Organizational skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Diplomatic qualities and negotiation skills.
- Must be able to relate to people at all levels of the company.
- Computer skills including knowledge of MS Office and Purchasing softwares.

**EFFORT REQUIRED**:

- Ability to perform the duties outlined in the Physical Demands Analysis and the Job Hazard Analysis.
- Minimum physical effort.
- Medium stress level.
- Predominantly Office environment; however occasional exposure to chemicals in Stores.
- Must be flexible in hours of work in order to support employees doing shift work.
