Position Summary
The Community Physician Recruiter is responsible for family physician recruitment and retention and to provide support to the hospital by providing community integration and family settlement for the recruitment and retention of physician specialists. The incumbent will act as an advocate for local primary care initiatives and as a community resource for physician recruitment and retention.
**Recruitment/Retention**:
- Recruitment of family physicians as identified and in consultation with Orillia & Area Physician Recruitment and Retention Committee (OAPRRC) and Medical Affairs.
- Provide assistance to new family physicians as they enter practice and assist seasoned physicians with succession planning.
- Provide integration and family settlement assistance for family and specialist physicians.
- Undertake yearly inventory of family physicians and with Medical Affairs participate in HHR planning.
- Regularly review and update information on the website and social media
- Prepare job advertisements for website, Healthforce Ontario and other related sites
- Provide community orientation to medical students, residents, and new physicians; identify potential future family physicians and communicate specialist recruitment opportunities.
- In consultation with the Community Engagement Task Force, coordinate social activities for medical students and residents.
- When requested by the Chair of OAPRRC, prepare for and attend events related to recruitment and retention (medical school job fairs, Canadian Society of Physician Recruiters) and community engagement.
- In partnership with Medical Affairs, work with administrative assistant to prepare for recognition and engagement events (Credentialed Staff Long Service Awards and Doctor's Day activities).
- Foster physician relationships within the community and work with Medical Affairs to initiate retention programs or events.
- Participate and provide assistance to special projects as identified by OAPRRC and Medical Affairs.
**Marketing**:
- Foster partnerships with local municipal governments, business sectors, community, local area recruiters, and counterparts in communities throughout the province to enhance profile of the OAPRRC and build a resource network.
- At the request of the Chair of OAPRRC, prepare presentations and press releases on behalf of the committee.
**Reporting**:
- Submit regular reports to the OAPRRC including annual updates on local, regional and provincial trends, innovations, opportunities and strategic directions in recruitment and retention.
- Report findings of family physician yearly inventory to OAPRRC.
- Submit reports to the Medical Advisory Committee, OSMH Foundation, Chamber of Commerce and municipal funding partners, as required.
**Other**:
- Attend meetings of Medical Training Education Committee (M-TEC), Couchiching Ontario Health Team (COHT) Round Table and COHT Health Human Resources.
- Maintain positive working relationship with Regional Advisor, Ontario Health and meet each quarter.
- Actively maintain relationships with provincial colleagues in the recruitment field.
- Update knowledge regularly through available resources.
- Assist OAPRRC in procuring sponsorships for events.
- At the request of the Chair of OAPRRC, participate in local groups or committees where information on current physician needs and recruitment efforts is required (local governments, economic development initiatives and committees, etc.).
- Assist in the development of the annual budget, prepare vouchers for payment and documentation
- Provide support for special projects.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, a reliable vehicle. Responsible for providing evidence annually of insurance coverage in the amount of two million dollars (at the owners expense).
**Qualifications**:
**Education**:
- Successful completion of a post-secondary diploma or degree in a Business Administration, Health, Human Resources or Public Administration or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
**Experience**:
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a Recruiter required
- Previous experience in health care field is preferred
