**Early Childhood Educator**

**Key Role**:Facilitate daily experiences that support and promote each child’s physical, language, emotional, cognitive, social, and creative development and behavior using applicable observation tools while respecting inclusion principles and diversity issue. Understand that children are capable, competent, inquisitive, resilient, passionate, limitless and unique.

**Responsibilities**
- Develop a program based on observation, developmental needs of the children, interests of the children, and community resources
- Use a variety of teaching/instruction strategies to support learning during play and small group activities.
- Identify and respond to learning opportunities/teachable moments.
- Choose/provide materials with properties that are related to the child’s exploration of indoor and outdoor environment based on “Play and Exploration” model.
- Document observations using a range of methods
- notes, photos, videos.
- Model a positive attitude towards diversity (e.g., a) family, cultural, special needs).
- Sign the child in/out when they are being dropped off and picked up.
- Effectively communicate and build relationships with parents both at pick up/drop off and through a daily message to parents on Hi mama (must include a minimum of one picture and one development level).
- Mentors new staff/subs
- explains rules and guidelines when required.
- Follows daily flow
- adapts schedule when required.
- Assist children with personal needs in terms of napping, diapering, and eating
- Complies with all licensing and Provincial regulations pertaining to Early Learning Centre.

**Qualifications**:
Must have minimum ECE Level 1.

Ability to provide a valid criminal record check (including vulnerable sector check) completed within the last 6 months

Up-to-date First Aid/CPR certification

Must be legally able to work in Canada

**Salary**: $15.19-$18.63 per hour
