Community Immigration Coordinator – Part-time Contract Position

Salary $30.00 /hour

Part-time Contract January - December 2025 (approximately 20-30 hours per week dependent on project requirements)

Hours of Operation: Monday to Friday 8:00am-4:30pm (occasional evenings and weekends may be required)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Community Immigration Coordinator to support the launch and implementation of a new immigration program. The ideal candidate will have experience in immigration-related services, a professional demeanor, and a proven ability to build strong relationships with local employers and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with local employers to promote the new program and help them meet their hiring needs.
  • Develop and execute strategies to inform the community about the program, including hosting events, workshops, and presentations.
  • Collaborate with partners to create pathways for newcomers, including job connections, skills training, and client support.
  • Collaborate with community organizations, employers, education institutions, immigration consultants, settlement agencies, and government partners to ensure successful program implementation.
  • Coordinate events, workshops, and networking opportunities to connect employers with talent, including youth and newcomers.
  • Prioritize community outreach based on local labour needs that align to existing immigration pathways.
  • Assist in developing marketing materials and communication strategies to promote workforce opportunities to diverse audiences.
  • Stay updated on labour market trends, immigration pathways, and best practices in workforce development.
  • Track program outcomes, prepare reports, and document success stories to demonstrate impact.
  • Other duties as assigned based on program requirements.

Qualifications

  • Education & Experience:
  • Post-secondary degree in Human Resources, Business, Economics, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
    • Minimum 2 years of experience in workforce development, immigration services, employment services, community development, or related areas.
  • Skills & Attributes:
    • Strong knowledge of immigration programs, policies, and processes.
    • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust with diverse groups.
    • Strong understanding of labor market dynamics, especially in attracting and retaining newcomers
    • Excellent communication, collaboration, and networking skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
    • Experience in networking with employers, educational institutions, and government bodies.
    • Knowledge of Sarnia-Lambton’s economic landscape and workforce challenges is an asset.
    • Professional demeanor and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with CRM systems is an asset.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for local travel.
    • Availability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends, as required.
