Job Summary

Prairie Mountain Health is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Nurse Practitioner to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide comprehensive primary health care services to clients and their families in a community and/or long-term care setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assessment, Diagnosis, and Treatment
    • Conduct thorough health assessments to identify health concerns and develop treatment plans.
    • Order diagnostic tests and interpret results to inform treatment decisions.
    • Prescribe medications and provide education to clients on proper use and management.
    • Monitor client response to treatment and adjust plans as needed.
  • Consultation and Collaborative Practice
    • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care.
    • Provide expert consultation and guidance to clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
    • Participate in team conferences and client care planning.
  • Prescribing Drugs
    • Apply principles of pharmacology to select and prescribe medications.
    • Monitor client response to medication and adjust prescriptions as needed.
    • Provide education to clients on medication use and management.
  • Screening and Diagnostic Tests
    • Order and interpret diagnostic tests to inform treatment decisions.
    • Consult with specialists as needed to clarify diagnostic interpretations.
    • Communicate test results to clients and families.
  • Injury/Illness Prevention
    • Develop and implement health promotion and illness prevention strategies.
    • Provide education and counseling to clients and families on healthy living and disease prevention.
    • Conduct risk assessments and develop plans to reduce/prevent risk.
  • Professional Responsibilities/Accountability
    • Document client care in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Complete statistical data and reports as required.
    • Participate in research and utilize research findings in practice.
    • Provide clinical supervision and education to graduate students and healthcare professionals.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A Master's degree in Nursing or related field.
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse (Extended Practice) in the province of Manitoba.
  • Experience in primary care and extended practice nursing.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
