We are seeking a skilled Telephone Operator to join our team at Seven Oaks General Hospital. As a Telephone Operator, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional customer service to patients, families, and visitors by answering telephones and routing inquiries effectively.

Job Description

This is a part-time position that requires a minimum of one year of experience as a telephone operator and a minimum of one year of direct receptionist experience in a healthcare setting. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Answering telephones and routing inquiries
  • Greeting and directing internal and external callers, patients, families, and visitors
  • Making decisions following policy to route inquiry calls, including patient/general inquiries and emergency codes
  • Monitoring and announcing public address codes, including medical emergencies and contingency codes
  • Contacting physicians and administrative personnel via the public address, internal, and external paging systems
  • Maintaining daily records and performing other related duties as assigned

Salary and Benefits

The annual base salary for this position is approximately $64,000-$72,000, depending on experience and qualifications. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including extended health and dental coverage, life insurance, and pension plan.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A minimum of one year of experience as a telephone operator and a minimum of one year of direct receptionist experience in a healthcare setting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Superior command of English (oral and written), with the ability to communicate effectively using overhead, internal, and external paging systems
  • Ability to adapt readily to emergency situations and to work in a fast-paced, interactive environment
  • Flexibility and independence in assessing situations and making effective decisions

Physical Requirements

This position requires working in a general office environment with considerable sitting, frequent contact with patients, families, and the general public, and the ability to work in and cope with stressful situations.
