About the Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Labour Relations Specialist to join our team at the Association of Justice Counsel. In this role, you will work collaboratively with a small team to provide expert labour relations advice and interpretation of collective agreements to our members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide labour relations advice and interpretation of collective agreements to members
  • Represent members in informal and formal meetings with employer officials
  • Conduct research and draft documents, including informational tools and pleadings
  • Make oral and written submissions on behalf of members
  • Review employer directives, policies, and processes
  • Attend employer-related meetings as needed
Requirements
  • Degree in Industrial Relations, Law, or equivalent field from a recognized college or university
  • Minimum of three years of experience in labour relations or a related area
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in interpreting and applying collective agreements, as well as legislation and case law governing labour relations and human rights in the federal public service
  • Demonstrated experience in providing advice on employment rights and responsibilities, as well as in representation, advocacy, and dispute resolution
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in human rights, employment equity, labour and employment law, occupational health and safety government policies, directives, and processes

  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to union, social justice, human rights, and EDIA principles
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple shifting priorities and deadlines
