Job Summary

Hydro Ottawa is seeking a seasoned Labour Relations Manager to lead and mentor a team in a complex, multi-jurisdictional, unionized environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for fostering a positive and constructive labour relations environment, developing collective bargaining strategies, and providing solutions to client/business needs in alignment with Hydro Ottawa's Talent Management Roadmap and Strategic Direction.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Foster a Positive Labour Relations Environment: Develop and maintain a positive and constructive labour relations environment through established and informal mechanisms, ensuring a collaborative and respectful working relationship with bargaining agents and their representatives.
  2. Develop Collective Bargaining Strategies: Develop and implement collective bargaining strategies, including the formulation of mandates for collective agreement renewals, to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
  3. Represent Management: Represent management in collective bargaining, the grievance and arbitration procedure, and at other tribunals as appropriate, ensuring effective communication and negotiation skills.
  4. Oversee Disciplinary and Grievance Management: Oversee the disciplinary and grievance management processes, ensuring fair and consistent application of policies and procedures.
  5. Provide Human Resources Leadership: Provide human resources leadership for mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence reviews, and the development and implementation of strategies for transitions.
  6. Prepare and Manage Labour Relations Budget: Prepare, monitor, and manage the annual labour relations budget, ensuring effective resource allocation and performance metrics.
Requirements
  1. Education: An undergraduate degree in Human Resources Management, Commerce/Business Administration, Public Administration, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
  2. Experience: Minimum ten years progressively responsible experience in Human Resources, Labour Relations advisory, and leadership roles in a complex, multi-jurisdictional, unionized environment.
  3. Skills: Proven experience leading collective bargaining, superior knowledge of labour relations and human resources, excellent communication and project management skills, and strong computer skills.
