About the Role
Hydro Ottawa is seeking a seasoned Labour Relations Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Human Resources department, you will play a critical role in shaping our labour relations strategy and fostering positive relationships with our bargaining agents and their representatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Foster a positive and constructive labour relations environment through established and informal mechanisms.
- Develop and implement labour relations and collective bargaining strategies that align with our Talent Management Roadmap and Strategic Direction.
- Represent management in collective bargaining, grievance and arbitration procedures, and other tribunals as required.
- Oversee the disciplinary and grievance management processes, ensuring compliance with employment and labour legislation.
- Provide expert advice and consultation on the administration and interpretation of collective agreements, our Code of Business Conduct, policies, and procedures.
- Liaise with internal and external legal counsel as needed.
- Lead human resources initiatives for mergers and acquisitions, including due diligence reviews and transition strategies.
- Prepare, monitor, and manage the annual labour relations budget, analyzing and reporting performance metrics.
Requirements
- An undergraduate degree in Human Resources Management, Commerce/Business Administration, Public Administration, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
- A Master's degree in Industrial Relations or a related field is considered an asset.
- A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in Human Resources, Labour Relations advisory, and leadership roles in complex, multi-jurisdictional, unionized environments.
- Proven experience leading collective bargaining and labour relations initiatives.
- Superior knowledge of labour relations, human resources, employment, and labour legislation in Ontario, Quebec, and New York State.
- Excellent communication, project management, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
- English language skills are essential, both oral and written; Bilingualism (French/English) is preferred.
- Strong computer skills, with proficiency in office productivity and collaboration tools, preferably Google Workspace.
