We have an exciting opportunity for a Strategic Communications Specialist to join our dedicated and community-focused team in the Economic Development & Strategy Department. Under the general direction of the Manager, Economic Development & Strategy, you will lead the strategic administration, implementation, and operation of our communications programs.

As a Strategic Communications Specialist, your key responsibilities include assisting with the implementation of policies, strategies, and campaigns to ensure our communication objectives are met. You will work collaboratively with all departments within the City of Yellowknife to provide support and advice on external communication goals and processes to achieve outstanding customer service.

This position requires a degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field, along with a minimum of three years of related experience, including community engagement within a government or corporate environment. Expert knowledge of best practices in strategic communications planning, public relations, and media relations is essential, as are excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills. You must be able to work under pressure and manage projects with tight timeframes and deadlines.

The estimated salary for this role is $93,827, accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package, including monthly housing and vacation travel allowances, and a defined benefits pension plan.
