We are currently seeking a Strategic Communications Manager to join our team in the Economic Development & Strategy Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the strategic administration, implementation, and operation of the City's communications programs.

Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Manager, Economic Development & Strategy, you will assist with the implementation of policies, strategies, and campaigns to ensure the communication objectives of the City are met. You will work collaboratively with all departments within the City of Yellowknife to provide support and advice to ensure proper external communication goals are met and processes are followed so that outstanding customer service is achieved.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective communications strategies to promote the City's brand and reputation.
  • Assist with the development of policies, procedures, and guidelines related to communications.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure clear and consistent messaging across all channels.
  • Manage and maintain the City's website, social media accounts, and other digital platforms.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of related experience, which should include community engagement within a government or dynamic corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative and constructive relationships with individuals at all levels of organizations.
  • Expert knowledge of best practices in strategic communications planning, public relations, and media relations.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage projects with tight timeframes and within strict deadlines.
