At BCEHS, we're looking for highly skilled professionals to join our team as Emergency Medical Call Takers.

About the Role

The primary role of an Emergency Medical Call Taker is to provide exceptional support to the public during emergency medical situations. Working in a fast-paced call-centre environment, you will be the first point of contact in 911 calls directed to ambulance services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional customer service skills while remaining calm and focused in stressful, high-pressure situations.
  • Prioritize multiple competing tasks, using a methodical approach to problem solve, make decisions, and communicate clearly.
  • Take a leadership role while actively building relationships with team members and callers.
  • Actively seek win-win solutions, maintaining professionalism in cases of healthy conflict and supporting differences of opinion.

We're seeking candidates with 2+ years' experience in customer service, who possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll need to demonstrate the following skills and qualifications:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Valid certificates in Standard First Aid and CPR Level C (or higher).
  • 2+ years' experience in customer service.
  • Fluent spoken and written English.

As a strong asset, knowledge of social, economic, political, and historical realities impacting indigenous communities, as well as familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism, would be beneficial.

Average salary: $60,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience and location.
