Job Summary

Verve Senior Living is seeking a highly motivated and creative Life Enrichment Assistant to join our team. As a Life Enrichment Assistant, you will play a critical role in creating resident-centric environments where our residents can experience fulfillment and engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, and evaluate activities that meet the physical, emotional, social, intellectual, and spiritual needs of residents.
  • Communicate activities and programs to residents, staff, families, and the community to encourage participation.
  • Lead and promote resident awareness and participation in leisure, social, and recreation programs.
  • Assist in the maintenance of department records, including attendance, assessments, and evaluations of planned programs.
  • Maintain a positive image of the residence through ongoing communications with the community, local media, family members, staff, and volunteers.
  • Assist in the direction and supervision of participants in the volunteer and student placement programs.
  • Participate in the annual CanFitPro Exercise program to carry out proper exercise classes for seniors.
  • Maintain established department plans, policies, and procedures regarding quality of programming, treatment of residents, infection control, and safety.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, residents, and guests, using the appropriate lines of communication with supervisory staff.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Life Enrichment Manager or delegate.

Requirements

  • Minimum of grade 12 education required.
  • Prior experience in recreation programming for a senior population is preferred.
  • Diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in the field of Recreation, Physical Education, and/or Gerontology is considered an asset.
  • Class 5 operator's license, clean driving record, and 2 years passenger driving experience is preferred.
  • Certified in Emergency First Aid and CPR required.
  • Excellent leadership skills and ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally, in the English language.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and demonstrate a strong ability to problem solve.
  • Multi-tasking skills and ability to work well independently and in a team environment.

Additional Qualifications

  • Unrestricted Class 4 Drivers License required.
