ROLE OVERVIEW:

Are you a passionate and innovative individual with a desire to work with seniors? As a Life Enrichment Assistant, you will play a vital role in planning and executing programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being of our residents. This position is essential in creating an inspiring atmosphere where residents can find fulfillment in their daily lives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Experience in recreational programming for seniors is preferred.
  • A diploma or degree in Recreation, Physical Education, or Gerontology is an asset.
  • A valid Class 5 driver's license and a clean driving record are preferred.
  • Certification in Emergency First Aid and CPR is required.
  • Strong leadership abilities are essential.
  • Valid alcohol serving certification and CanFitPro certification are preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with database management is required.
  • Knowledge or experience with dementia care is considered an asset.
  • A resident-focused individual whose values align with our mission.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal, are necessary.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
  • Proven multitasking abilities and capability to work well in both independent and team settings.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Life Enrichment Manager to plan, implement, and assess activities that cater to the diverse needs of residents.
  • Communicate departmental activities to residents, staff, families, and the community to encourage participation.
  • Lead and promote resident involvement in leisure and recreational programs.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, and evaluations of programs.
  • Foster a positive image of the residence through effective communication with the community and stakeholders.
  • Supervise volunteers and students participating in programs.
  • Participate in exercise programs tailored for seniors.
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures regarding programming quality and resident care.
  • Maintain effective communication with coworkers, residents, and guests.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Life Enrichment Manager.
  • Comply with all corporate policies and complete mandatory training.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations and participate in safety programs.
