ROLE OVERVIEW:
Are you a passionate and innovative individual with a desire to work with seniors? As a Life Enrichment Assistant, you will play a vital role in planning and executing programs that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being of our residents. This position is essential in creating an inspiring atmosphere where residents can find fulfillment in their daily lives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Experience in recreational programming for seniors is preferred.
- A diploma or degree in Recreation, Physical Education, or Gerontology is an asset.
- A valid Class 5 driver's license and a clean driving record are preferred.
- Certification in Emergency First Aid and CPR is required.
- Strong leadership abilities are essential.
- Valid alcohol serving certification and CanFitPro certification are preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with database management is required.
- Knowledge or experience with dementia care is considered an asset.
- A resident-focused individual whose values align with our mission.
- Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal, are necessary.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
- Proven multitasking abilities and capability to work well in both independent and team settings.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with the Life Enrichment Manager to plan, implement, and assess activities that cater to the diverse needs of residents.
- Communicate departmental activities to residents, staff, families, and the community to encourage participation.
- Lead and promote resident involvement in leisure and recreational programs.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, and evaluations of programs.
- Foster a positive image of the residence through effective communication with the community and stakeholders.
- Supervise volunteers and students participating in programs.
- Participate in exercise programs tailored for seniors.
- Adhere to established policies and procedures regarding programming quality and resident care.
- Maintain effective communication with coworkers, residents, and guests.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Life Enrichment Manager.
- Comply with all corporate policies and complete mandatory training.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations and participate in safety programs.
