ROLE OVERVIEW:

Are you a vibrant and imaginative individual with a passion for engaging seniors through meaningful programs? Under the guidance of the Life Enrichment Manager, you will be responsible for planning, organizing, and facilitating activities that promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being of our residents. This position is essential in creating a resident-focused atmosphere that encourages personal fulfillment.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of secondary education is required.
  • Experience in recreational programming for seniors is preferred.
  • A diploma or degree in Recreation, Physical Education, or Gerontology is an asset.
  • A valid Class 5 driver's license and a clean driving record are preferred.
  • Certification in Emergency First Aid and CPR is mandatory.
  • Strong leadership abilities are essential.
  • Valid alcohol serving certification and CanFitPro certification are preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with database management is required.
  • Knowledge or experience with dementia care is an asset.
  • A resident-focused individual whose values align with those of our community.
  • Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal, are necessary.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and work well in both independent and team settings.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Life Enrichment Manager to plan, direct, and assess activities that cater to the diverse needs of residents.
  • Communicate departmental activities to residents, staff, families, and the community to promote participation.
  • Lead and encourage resident involvement in leisure and recreational programs.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, and evaluations of activities.
  • Foster a positive image of the residence through effective communication with the community and stakeholders.
  • Assist in supervising volunteers and student placements.
  • Participate in the CanFitPro Exercise program to deliver appropriate exercise classes for seniors.
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures regarding programming quality, resident treatment, and safety.
  • Maintain effective communication with colleagues, residents, and guests.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Life Enrichment Manager.
  • Comply with all corporate policies and procedures.
  • Complete all mandatory training and education requirements.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations and participate in safety programs.
