Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Risk Management Specialist to join our team at BC Ferries. As a key member of the Finance Division, you will play a vital role in supporting the company's long-term financial sustainability.

The Opportunity

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic and tactical advice on financial risk management and treasury matters, including liquidity management, funding optimization, and risk mitigation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement financial risk management policies and strategies to minimize risk and maximize returns.
  • Provide expert advice on asset and liability management, including cash, debt, investment, and derivative activities.
  • Manage relationships with banking groups, credit agencies, external funding sources, and suppliers.
  • Develop and manage long-term debt programs, including liquidity, alternative funding, and carbon credit opportunities.
  • Lead and coach a professional team in the delivery of best financial risk management practices.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong understanding of debt capital markets and capital structure strategy.
  • Excellent financial forecasting and risk management skills.
  • 7-9 years of progressive experience in finance or treasury.
  • A degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field, with an MBA or Master's degree in Economics being an asset.
  • A CFA, CTP-AFP, or CPA designation is preferred.

What We Offer

BC Ferries offers a competitive salary range of $155,100 to $193,300 per annum, with the starting salary determined based on the successful candidate's knowledge, experience, and internal equity.
