The Role

Commercial Portfolio Management > $10MM - Mid Market

This position involves credit structuring, underwriting, risk management, and client-facing support for a diverse client portfolio with average loan volumes exceeding $10MM. The role encompasses credit underwriting, monitoring, and adjudication within a varied commercial banking portfolio in the Mid-Market sector. The successful candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of the organization's credit policies and existing arrangements while continuing to develop expertise in unique credit situations. Daily interactions with clients and partner relationship managers are expected, alongside mentoring and leading a specialized team.

Key Focus Areas

  • Credit Underwriting: As a proficient credit underwriter, you will collaborate with sales teams to support the branch through effective and timely credit evaluations for both new and existing clients. You will manage risks and maintain daily client relationships for Mid Market commercial clients, working closely with the sales team to devise innovative and ambitious full-service client solutions while maximizing internal partnerships and specialist resources.
  • Risk Management: Utilize your knowledge of credit policies and arrangements to implement risk mitigation strategies, ensuring appropriate measures are in place and risk assessment protocols are adhered to, while balancing risk and reward in accordance with CWB's risk appetite. Proactively manage risk through prudent lending recommendations, including consistent monitoring and due diligence to minimize operational losses. Demonstrate sound judgment and decisive actions to meet client needs.
  • Client Experience: Engage with clients on a daily basis, providing essential retention touchpoints for high-value clients, actively assessing their needs and referring them to other business partners within CWB Financial Group.

Core Qualifications and Experience

A Bachelor's Degree in commerce, finance, or accounting (or equivalent experience) with approximately 6 years of demonstrated expertise in risk management, banking, and business lending, including substantial direct experience in commercial credit underwriting across various industries, along with leadership and coaching experience.
