About the Opportunity

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant with Nova Scotia Health, you will play a vital role in supporting the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine team. Your responsibilities will include specimen procurement, receipt, and processing, as well as data entry, media preparation, and sterilization. You will also be responsible for performing various clerical duties and loading specimens on an analyzer. Additionally, you may be required to work rotating shifts, weekends, and/or holidays, and interact with various stakeholders and clients.

About You

We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented individual with a strong understanding of medical terminology. You must have a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant Program or equivalent, and be registered with the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS). Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as basic computer skills, are also essential. Access to reliable transportation is required, as travel may be necessary.

Hours and Compensation

This is a permanent, full-time position with 75 hours bi-weekly. The hourly rate is $23.19 - $26.27. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
