About the Opportunity

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant with Nova Scotia Health Authority, you will play a vital role in ensuring the accurate and efficient processing of laboratory samples. Your responsibilities will include specimen procurement, data entry, media preparation, and sterilization, as well as loading specimens onto analyzers.

About You

We are looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented individual who is proficient in medical terminology and has strong written and verbal communication skills. Candidates must have successfully completed the Medical Laboratory Assistant examinations of the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) and have current registration with CSMLS.

  • Recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant Program or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology
  • Ability to work independently and make sound judgments
  • Manual dexterity to handle sharp instruments and small objects
  • Basic computer skills, preferably Meditech experience

The ideal candidate will be able to accurately number and label specimens, adapt to updates in operating procedures, and maintain a professional appearance. French language proficiency is an asset, but not required.

Hours

This is a permanent, full-time position working 75 hours bi-weekly.

Compensation and Incentives

The hourly rate for this position is $23.19-$26.27. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
