About This Opportunity

Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking an Emergency Medicine Specialist to join our team at Yarmouth Regional Hospital and Digby General Hospital. As an Emergency Physician, you will be responsible for examining patients, ordering diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures, and advising patients on healthcare, health promotion, and disease prevention.

Responsibilities
  • Examine patients and order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures
  • Advise patients on healthcare, health promotion, and disease prevention
  • Consult and refer to other medical practitioners
  • Act as a patient advocate
  • Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations, and vaccinations
Expected Hours
  • Full-time between YRH and DGH
Qualifications
  • College of Family Physicians of Canada Emergency Medicine certification would be considered an asset
  • All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia
  • All family physicians must be eligible for certification with the College of Family Physicians of Canada
  • Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
  • Clinical Competence in Resuscitation (CCrISP)
  • Newborn Resuscitation (NRP)
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Emergency department experience an asset

Yarmouth Regional Hospital is a 100-bed hospital located in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, serving the population of approximately 60,000 in three counties. The hospital provides a range of primary and secondary services through in-patient, outpatient, and satellite programs.

Digby General Hospital is a 20-bed hospital located in Digby, Nova Scotia, providing medical care to residents of the surrounding areas, including primary, in-patient, restorative, and ambulatory care, as well as day surgery.
