Job Summary:

The Salvation Army is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to fill the role of Volunteer Program Coordinator. This position will be responsible for coordinating and managing the volunteer program, ensuring that all volunteers are engaged and utilized effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of volunteers to support the Salvation Army's programs and services.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase volunteer engagement and retention.
  • Coordinate volunteer schedules and ensure that all volunteers are utilized effectively.
  • Provide excellent customer service to volunteers, donors, and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with program staff to identify volunteer needs and develop strategies to meet those needs.
  • Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours, donations, and other relevant data.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the effective management of volunteers.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in a related field an asset.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in volunteer management or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with volunteers in a non-profit setting.
  • Knowledge of volunteer management software and databases.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
