The Salvation Army is seeking a highly motivated and organized individual to fill the role of Volunteer Coordinator. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing our volunteer program, ensuring that our volunteers have a positive and rewarding experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruit, train, and manage a team of volunteers to support our programs and services.
- Develop and implement strategies to engage and retain volunteers, including volunteer recognition and appreciation events.
- Coordinate volunteer scheduling and placement, ensuring that volunteers are utilized effectively and efficiently.
- Provide excellent customer service to volunteers, responding to their inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Collaborate with program staff to identify volunteer needs and develop volunteer opportunities that align with our programs and services.
- Develop and maintain volunteer promotional materials, including job descriptions and volunteer application forms.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of our volunteer program, making recommendations for improvement as needed.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in a related field an asset.
- Minimum 1 year of experience in volunteer management or a related field.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with volunteers, staff, and community partners.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Food Safe certification an asset.
- Knowledge of The Salvation Army's programs and services an asset.
