Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, train, and manage a team of volunteers to support our programs and services.
  • Develop and implement strategies to engage and retain volunteers, including volunteer recognition and appreciation events.
  • Coordinate volunteer scheduling and placement, ensuring that volunteers are utilized effectively and efficiently.
  • Provide excellent customer service to volunteers, responding to their inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with program staff to identify volunteer needs and develop volunteer opportunities that align with our programs and services.
  • Develop and maintain volunteer promotional materials, including job descriptions and volunteer application forms.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of our volunteer program, making recommendations for improvement as needed.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary education in a related field an asset.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in volunteer management or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with volunteers, staff, and community partners.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of integrity and confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Food Safe certification an asset.
  • Knowledge of The Salvation Army's programs and services an asset.
