Job Overview
The Salvation Army is seeking a skilled Community Engagement Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for promoting the Salvation Army's volunteer program and recruiting volunteers to support our community-based initiatives.
About the Role
This is a full-time position based on 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. The successful candidate will have strong communication skills, be able to work with minimum supervision in a fast-paced environment, and possess high standards of integrity, judgement, and confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote the Salvation Army's volunteer program through presentations to businesses, community groups, service clubs, schools, and churches.
- Recruit and orient volunteers, collaborating with various program and department heads to identify, fill, and maintain volunteer positions.
- Maintain a year-round focus on the Salvation Army's Christmas program and fundraising volunteer needs, with an emphasis on fully and adequately resourcing the Kettle Campaign.
- Develop and maintain volunteer promotional materials and job descriptions for all Salvation Army volunteer positions.
- Plan and host volunteer appreciation events.
- Assist in the development of volunteer-related policy and procedures and the volunteer handbook.
- Respond to complaints and assist with performance management, discipline, and resolving conflicts involving volunteers.
- Match volunteers' skills and availability with work/activity needed and/or available, update and post schedules.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Completed High School and a minimum of 1 year of related experience.
- Strong service ethic and friendly disposition with the public.
- Team-oriented and able to take initiative.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision in a fast-paced environment.
- High standards of integrity, judgement, and confidentiality.
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Effective communication skills.
- Adaptability to change and frequent interruptions.
- Willingness to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Computer and word processing ability.
Salary Range: $40,000 - $55,000 per year (based on experience).
