Key Responsibilities:

  • Represent and work within the mission, vision, and values of The Salvation Army.
  • Demonstrate compassion, respect, and empathy consistently.
  • Support clients, residents, volunteers, and coworkers.
  • Maintain polite and professional communication.
  • Greet visitors, answer phone calls, and respond to inquiries.
  • Resolve routine inquiries.
  • Handle sensitive information confidentially.
  • Process mail and parcels, and schedule meetings.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including data entry and maintenance of databases.
  • Recruit and orient volunteers, and promote the Salvation Army's volunteer program.
  • Develop and maintain promotional materials and job descriptions for volunteer positions.
  • Host volunteer appreciation events and assist with performance management.
  • Maintain the security of the Salvation Army's volunteer database and personnel records.

HOURS:

  • Full-time position based on 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completed high school and a minimum of 1 year of related experience.

REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

  • Effective communication skills.
  • Adaptability to change and frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Computer and word processing ability.
  • Food Safe, CPR, First Aid, and Non-Violent Crisis Training an asset.

PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:

  • Preference to those with a current valid BC driver's license with a clean driving record.
