Job Summary

The Clinical Nurse Educator will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating clinical education programs for team members and clients/families in collaboration with the Supervisor and interdisciplinary team members.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess individual and group learning needs by observing activities, discussing clinical issues with the team, and analyzing data to determine specific educational requirements.
  • Develop individual growth plans to address identified learning needs and monitor progress against the growth plan.
  • Design, develop, implement, and evaluate clinical education programs for team members and clients/families.
  • Support preceptors, mentors, and clinical programs using teaching and learning principles and program planning and evaluation processes.
  • Develop, review, and modify learning resources for team members and clients/families using established educational standards.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching and learning strategies to support clinical education activities, including facilitating groups, coaching, mentoring, and conducting presentations and demonstrations.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses & Midwives.
  • Three years' recent, related experience in developing, implementing, and delivering education services, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid BC Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Comprehensive knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client and family-centered model of care.
  • Broad knowledge of BCCNP Standards for Nursing/Psychiatric Nursing Practice.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of adult education principles, methods, and tools.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of other health disciplines and their role in patient/client care.
  • Broad knowledge of research methodology and processes.
