Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse, Tertiary

Fraser Health is seeking a highly skilled Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our team in a clinical leadership role. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will provide and coordinate the delivery of psychiatric nursing care services to patients experiencing serious mental health and bio-psychosocial problems.
Key Responsibilities- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care of assigned clients, including reviewing client/family history, conducting physical/psychosocial assessments, and providing psycho-education to individuals, clients, and their support systems.
- Identify actual or potential problems and strengths through nursing diagnosis, plan interventions, perform planned interventions, and evaluate outcomes.
- Develop, implement, evaluate, and document psycho-social rehabilitative plans in collaboration with the clients' support systems and interdisciplinary team members.
- Facilitate individual and/or group treatment, using cognitive, behavioral, educational, problem-solving, and crisis intervention methods.
- Provide individual supportive counseling to clients and families in accordance with approved treatment methods.
- Act as an advocate to protect and promote the clients' rights to autonomy, respect, privacy, dignity, and access to information.
- Participate in quality improvement activities and research by identifying patient care issues and collecting data.
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing.
- One year recent related mental health experience in an acute, tertiary, or community setting, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Ability to complete initial and ongoing mental health and substance use client assessment and provide nursing care through appropriate/prescribed technical, therapeutic, safety-type interventions, including crisis intervention.
- Knowledge of mental illness and substance use treatment, psychosocial rehabilitation, and recovery.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with clients, families/caregivers, the public, medical staff, and members of the interprofessional care team.
