The compensation range for this role is CAD $41.42/Hr. - CAD $55.91/Hr.

Position Overview

Join our team as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Dialysis at Vancouver Coastal Health. We are seeking a dedicated nursing professional to become part of our Renal - Haemodialysis Clinic.

In your role as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Dialysis, you will be responsible for:

  • Delivering comprehensive nursing care to patients and educating clients and their families on the management and treatment of chronic kidney disease, both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Enhancing the quality of life from the viewpoint of the patient and their family.
  • Engaging in consultation, collaboration, and communication with other healthcare professionals.
  • Exhibiting expertise and leadership in nursing practices.
  • Continuously maintaining and improving your clinical skills and knowledge.
  • Participating in designated hospital committees and approved research initiatives as required.
Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Completion of an accredited advanced program in nephrology nursing or a minimum of two years of recent experience in dialysis.
  • Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Extensive understanding of nursing theories and practices within a patient-centered care model.
  • Thorough knowledge of BCCNM standards for nursing practice.
  • In-depth understanding of the causes, physiological aspects, symptoms, and treatments of renal diseases.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of adult physiology.
  • Proven ability in nursing practices related to the care of patients with end-stage renal disease.
  • Demonstrated capability to develop and implement care plans based on patient and family priorities.
  • Ability to assess patient responses to care and respond appropriately.
  • Capacity to adapt to new or unforeseen circumstances.
  • Skill in managing conflict situations effectively.
  • Proficiency in working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively interact with patients, their families, colleagues, physicians, and other healthcare staff.
  • Capability to counsel and educate patients and their families based on their needs.
  • Demonstrated leadership and direction in nursing practice.
  • Physical ability to perform the responsibilities of the position.
  • Proficient in the use of medical equipment and supplies relevant to the clinical area.
  • Basic computer skills to operate a computerized patient care information system.
  • Demonstrated skills in techniques related to hemodialysis, nocturnal dialysis, and peritoneal dialysis.
Additional Information

The working hours, including days off and work areas, may be subject to change based on operational needs and in accordance with the Collective Agreement and applicable regulations. Successful candidates may be required to undergo a Criminal Records Review Check.
