Job Summary

This role requires continuous improvement of quality and safety in all aspects of the position. Reporting to the Clinic Manager, the Medical Office Assistant provides administrative day-to-day support to the clinic, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for all individuals.

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a clinical setting, engaging with multiple stakeholders within the healthcare sector, and possessing exceptional communication skills. They will also be able to work collaboratively with colleagues at all levels of an organization and across sectors.

Main Responsibilities
  • Maintain confidential information appropriately
  • Stay current with relevant standards and procedures
  • Commit to upholding reconciliation and Indigenous Cultural Safety principles

The successful candidate will perform various tasks, including:

  • Coordinating internal and external communication
  • Answering phone calls, emails, and correspondence
  • Maintaining bulletin boards, calendars, and staff schedules
  • Providing reception services, such as registering new patients and booking appointments
  • Facilitating facility support, ensuring a welcoming environment for patients and families
Requirements
  • Secondary education and a Medical Office Assistant diploma, plus one year of recent related office/clerical experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Experience working with diverse cultural and lifestyle backgrounds
  • Office management principles, methods, and procedures; records retention policies and schedules
