Job Title: Employee Relations Consultant

Job Summary:

The Government of Nunavut is seeking a highly skilled Employee Relations Consultant to provide expert advice, training, and guidance to departments handling employer/employee relations, grievances, and disciplinary actions. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Industrial Relations, Business, or a related field, and a minimum of two years' experience in a similar role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice on complex employee/employer interactions
  • Investigate employee/employer issues
  • Resolve grievances at the final level prior to arbitration
  • Assist managers in disciplinary actions
  • Provide guidance on collective agreements and human resource policies
  • Implement strategies to promote a positive working environment
  • Plan and organize cases for arbitration and Human Rights tribunals

Requirements:

  • Degree in Industrial Relations, Business, or a related field
  • Minimum two years' experience in a similar role
  • Excellent research and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Assets:

  • Knowledge of user departments, boards, and agencies in Nunavut
  • Good understanding of compensation policies and practices
  • Ability to communicate in French
  • Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut, and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment
