Job Summary

The Chair, Education Programs is a key leadership position responsible for the planning, direction, and management of the Nunavut Teacher Education Program (NTEP) and Early Childhood Education Programs (ECE). This includes all community and campus-based education programs and professional development programs for teachers and education support staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, direct, and manage the NTEP and ECE programs
  • Work with senior staff in planning all Teacher Education instructional and Early Childhood Education programs
  • Collaborate with colleagues from the university partner in administering the Bachelor of Education Program
  • Provide proactive support, direction, and management to the NTEP and ECE teams
  • Direct and manage human, financial, and program resources
  • Supervise 6 staff directly and approximately 26 staff in the Education Programs division
  • Jointly manage a budget allocation of approximately $19.4 Million with the second Chair position

Requirements

  • Recognized bachelor's degree in Education or Education Administration
  • Five years of progressive experience in training and/or education programming delivery, early childhood education, curriculum development, instructions, planning, financials, and human resources management
  • Two years of experience supervising and developing staff in a specialized calendar year setting
  • Fluency in more than one of Nunavut's official languages is an asset
  • Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut, and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets

  • A competitive salary range of $122,992.00 to $139,571.00 per year
  • A Northern Allowance of $16,008.00 per year
