We are seeking an experienced Department Head to join our team at NorthMart in northern Canada. This is a full-time permanent position that requires relocation to the region.

About the Role

This leadership role involves participating in hiring and promotion processes to support Department and Store Manager's decisions. Effective talent management programs will be designed to engage and retain staff, with daily communication at huddle-ups and effective task assignments, performance monitoring, and coaching for direct reports. The successful candidate will assist the Manager in managing performance issues, including disciplinary actions, in partnership with Human Resources.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and improve in-store selling activities, company programs, key initiatives, and Business Ready standards.
  • Ensure appropriate inventory levels to maximize sales, inventory turns, and return on investment.
  • Implement all corporate policies, initiatives, and Standard Operating Procedures, ensuring department and employees comply effectively.
  • Maintain health and safety, food safety, and other regulatory requirements and procedures.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years' experience in a food retail environment and possess exceptional customer service skills. A talent for building leadership and customer loyalty is essential, as well as the ability to work all shifts, including evenings and weekends.
