Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Office Coordinator to join our team at Halton Healthcare. As a Medical Office Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and administrative support in a dynamic and rapidly changing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Register patients and manage patient records
  • Answer telephone calls and respond to inquiries
  • Complete requisitions and transcribe doctors' orders
  • Schedule appointments and maintain inventory of supplies
  • Prepare stretchers and perform data entry on computer systems
  • Porter patients in wheelchairs and on stretchers as required
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Medical Office Administration diploma from a recognized college or a minimum of 1 year recent relevant clerical experience in a healthcare setting
  • Medical terminology certificate
  • Grade 12 diploma
  • A minimum of 30 wpm typing speed
  • Fast and accurate computer data entry skills
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Experience using patient-related databases
  • Ability to prioritize workload and function independently in a busy environment
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good customer service skills
  • Able to diplomatically respond to inquiries from staff, volunteers, patients, family members, and members of the general public
  • Fluent in English
  • Physically able to perform the job

Working Conditions

The ideal candidate will be strong in patient-centered care and able to work in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment. They will be able to manage execution, foster teamwork and cooperation, and communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff.

Working Hours

Monday to Sunday; Days, Nights – various rotating shifts; 0730-1930, 1930-0730 (subject to change based on operational requirements)
