Job Title: Special Events Lead
Job Summary:
The Town of Newmarket is seeking a highly skilled Special Events Lead to join our team. As a key member of our Community Services department, you will be responsible for planning, administering, and executing special events in various facilities and parks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Event Planning and Execution: Assist with the planning, coordination, and execution of special events, including logistics, vendor management, and on-site supervision.
- Project Management: Ensure all event planning project management deliverables are signed off and oversee on-site execution and supervision of Casual/Seasonal/Sessional Special Events staff and volunteers.
- Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to event attendees, vendors, and stakeholders.
- Legislative Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including Occupational Health and Safety legislation, Alcohol and Gaming Commission, Liquor Control Board, Public Health Act, Corporate Standards bylaw, Municipal Alcohol Policy, and Freedom of Information and Privacy Act.
- Communication and Collaboration: Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including vendors, suppliers, and community groups.
- Reporting and Data Analysis: Assist with data gathering and information to support Recreation Programming – Special Events with writing concise reports and presentation of oral submissions.
Requirements:
- Education: Post-secondary diploma in recreation field or equivalent combined with progressive work experience in Special Events planning, execution, and logistics.
- Legislative Knowledge: Working knowledge of legislation governing special events, including Occupational Health and Safety legislation, Alcohol and Gaming Commission, Liquor Control Board, Public Health Act, Corporate Standards bylaw, Municipal Alcohol Policy, and Freedom of Information and Privacy Act.
- Skills and Experience: Demonstrated experience in community event planning and administration models and best practices, municipal recreation, and culture program/service delivery. Excellent customer service skills, ability to maintain composure in demanding environments, and strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
- Certifications and Licenses: Current certification in Standard First Aid and CPR-C, Class G Driver's License in good standing, and a reliable vehicle to use on corporate business.
- Police Vulnerable Sector Check: A Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the Town is required.
