Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Producer to lead our news and current affairs team at CBC/Radio-Canada. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving the news agenda in Thunder Bay and northwestern Ontario, and for developing and implementing innovative strategies to reach new audiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Journalistic Staff: Strengthen our connections with communities by cultivating relationships with new audiences and community stakeholders, and responding to audience concerns.
- Diversify Content: Diversify the range of voices, opinions and creative storytelling the audience sees and hears on CBC Thunder Bay.
- Strengthen Content: Strengthen our content through critical thinking and creative vision.
- Lead Staff: Lead staff through a continuously changing media environment with innovation and strategic planning.
- Oversee Daily Operations: Oversee daily operation and facility needs at CBC Thunder Bay, including fleet management.
- Develop Employees: Help employees to develop through mentoring, ongoing feedback, performance management and providing opportunities for growth.
Requirements:
- Experience: Ten (10) years' experience which must involve work in journalism and experience leading program or project teams.
- Skills: Superior writing, editorial, vetting and production skills. Ability to interpret and adapt to audience trends and data.
- Ability: Demonstrated ability to exercise both quick editorial judgment and long term strategic planning.
- Commitment: A commitment to reflecting community and diversity.
- Flexibility: Ability to work flexible hours as required, including early morning and evening shifts, and weekends.
