About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our mining team in Brampton, Sudbury, North Bay, Thompson, St John, or Thunder Bay office. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading, supervising, and mentoring electrical designer level staff on all their responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead and supervise electrical designer level staff on all their responsibilities.
  2. Design and develop electrical systems, including power, PLC automation, instrumentation, and control systems.
  3. Oversee the development of design concepts by designers and ensure proper application and execution.
  4. Verify designer's work quality regarding specifications, reports, code application, submittal review, equipment selection, deliverables, and drawings.
  5. Mentor and encourage development of designer level staff.
  6. Apply EXP's risk management practices of electrical engineering.
  7. Lead the design team to produce engineering/construction documents that meet project requirements within allocated schedule and budget.
  8. Have a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and advanced concepts to execute all required aspects of discipline engineering.
  9. Encourage collaboration to seek best solutions.
  10. Manage work plans and deliverables on multiple projects within budgeted hours.
  11. Write studies and reports for electrical systems on projects.
  12. Execute complex electrical designs with conflicting design requirements or difficult coordination.
  13. Perform front-end loading of electrical systems for projects.
  14. Contribute to revisions of EXP's design standards and master specifications.
  15. Evaluate Value Engineering (cost-cutting) items with respect to our level of risk.
  16. Edit and develop the basis of design narratives documenting project scope.
  17. Design high, medium, and low voltage AC and DC systems.
  18. Design protection and control systems.
  19. Develop electrical one-lines, load lists, area classifications, etc.
  20. Participate in HAZOP, PHA, safety reviews.
Requirements

We are looking for a candidate with a BS Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree, registered as a Professional Engineer in Ontario, and at least 10 years of experience in the mining industry.
