Swift Current, Canada GFL Environmental Full time

GFL Environmental is seeking a skilled Landfill Equipment Operator to join our team in a part-time capacity. This role is responsible for maintaining the landfill's organization and safety, ensuring a clean and healthy environment for our community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the tipping area to prevent litter from blowing away.
  • Conduct regular inspections of compost areas, set up bait stations, and maintain accurate records.
  • Ensure the landfill is kept clean and free of debris.
  • Collaborate with experts to ensure waste is filled to grade.
  • Perform routine maintenance on heavy equipment, including adding fluids and greasing parts.
  • Inspect and clean the equipment's tracks to ensure optimal performance.
  • Participate in safety meetings and training sessions to stay up-to-date on procedures and best practices.

Requirements:

  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and common sense.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Proficiency in reading, speaking, understanding, and writing English.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Valid driver's license.

Working Conditions:

  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Operate heavy equipment for approximately half of the workday.
  • Work in a noisy environment.
  • Work hours may extend beyond 5:45 PM.
