Opportunity Overview

As a Field Service Operator, your role will involve delivering technical support and on-site services across various waste management operations. You will serve as a safety ambassador and play an integral role in our Incident Response Team.

Work Conditions

This position typically requires a standard 40-hour workweek from Monday to Friday, with occasional on-call responsibilities. Flexibility in shifts, extended hours, weekend work, and occasional travel may be necessary based on business requirements. Candidates should be prepared to work in challenging weather conditions and environments.

Daily Responsibilities

  • Participate in safety meetings and adhere to the Occupational Health and Safety Program.
  • Attend Daily Tailgates, complete FLHA's and Hazard ID's.
  • Conduct waste pickups using cube vans, pickup trucks, and equipment trailers.
  • Segregate, package, and transport hazardous materials to our processing facilities.
  • Complete necessary manifest and paperwork to support waste pickups.
  • Assess customer needs and relay information to Sales Representatives or Project Coordinators.
  • Assist with all Incident Response operations.
  • Operate small equipment such as forklifts and pumps.
  • Perform fieldwork, including manual labor at remote project sites as required.

Required Skills and Qualifications

Technical Skills:

  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License with a clean driving record is mandatory. An air brake endorsement or Class 3 driver's license is considered an asset.
  • Capability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, shoveling, and moving heavy materials.
  • Willingness to learn and ensure waste is identified, transported, and disposed of in compliance with Transport Canada and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to learn and complete Government Manifests and Bills of Lading for waste pickups.
  • Openness to participate in our paid-on-call program.
  • Willingness to adhere to Worksafe BC facial grooming standards for full-face respirator use during shifts.
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Proficient computer and mobile device skills, with a willingness to learn SECURE's training and online applications.

Interpersonal Skills:

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to express thoughts clearly and concisely.
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Capacity to work independently without supervision.
  • Good listening skills, with the ability to accept and follow directions.
  • Proficiency in multitasking, assessing situations, and prioritizing tasks effectively.
