Role Overview

The Intervenor Specialist plays a crucial role in providing support to individuals with dual sensory loss. This position involves a variety of responsibilities aimed at facilitating communication and interaction between the individual and their environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver personalized support to Deafblind individuals in both home and community settings.
  • Assist individuals in accessing information and learning essential skills for informed decision-making.
  • Provide guidance and detailed environmental information to enhance navigation and understanding.
  • Collaborate with individuals to assess their specific support needs.
  • Encourage active participation in community activities, including recreation, education, and self-advocacy.
Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A solid understanding of intervention theories and practices.
  • Knowledge of Deafblindness and associated cultural and health considerations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivation and adaptability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Qualifications

We seek individuals who have:

  • A diploma or degree in human services or relevant experience with Deafblind individuals.
  • A willingness to learn and utilize various communication methods, including sign language and Braille.
  • Experience with diverse populations across different socio-economic backgrounds.
  • A professional demeanor and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies is an advantage.
  • Flexibility to travel and work varied hours.
