About the Role

Sensity Deafblind and Sensory Support Network of Canada is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Full Time Intervenor to join our team. As an Intervenor, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals who are deafblind in their daily lives, enabling them to live independently and participate fully in their communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting Daily Living Activities: Assist individuals with daily living tasks, such as personal care, meal preparation, and house cleaning, to promote independence and self-sufficiency.
  • Communication Support: Use various communication techniques to relay information and facilitate effective communication between individuals and their support networks.
  • Empowering Independence: Empower individuals to participate and succeed in all aspects of daily living, including personal hygiene, volunteerism, and community engagement.
  • Personal Care and Support: Provide personal care as required, including lifts and transfers, toileting, personal hygiene, and medication administration.
  • Goal Development and Support: Assist individuals in developing and achieving their goals and objectives, promoting personal growth and fulfillment.
  • Program Development: Contribute to the development of programs and services that support individuals with dual sensory impairment.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Ensure accurate and complete documentation and records are maintained.
Requirements
  • Education and Training: Completion of a college diploma or certificate in the Intervenor for Deafblind Persons program, or a related human services field.
  • Experience: Experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and challenging behaviors, as well as those with mental health conditions.
  • Communication Skills: Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) or Signed Exact English (SEE).
  • Driver's License and Vehicle: Valid driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle, and a clean current driver's abstract.
