About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Specialist Intervenor to join our team at CNIB Deafblind Community Services. As a Specialist Intervenor, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals who are Deafblind to maximize their independence and engagement with the world around them.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one support and guidance to individuals who are Deafblind in their homes and communities
  • Facilitate access to information and facilitate communication between individuals and their environment
  • Offer sighted guide and environmental information to support individuals in navigating their surroundings
  • Work collaboratively with individuals to determine their level of support and empower them to participate in their communities
  • Support individuals in accessing recreation, education, vocational, and learning opportunities
Requirements
  • Knowledge of theories and principles of intervention
  • Understanding of Deafblindness, Deaf/Deafblind culture, and associated health-related concerns
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Self-motivation and flexibility with ability to multitask
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
Preferred Qualifications
  • Diploma or degree in human services field or related experience
  • Experience working with individuals who are Deafblind or willingness to learn and practice related alternate formats of communication
  • Experience working with diverse client populations
  • Professional demeanor and ability to build rapport with stakeholders
  • Experience with assistive or accessible technology
