Director, Finance

We are seeking an experienced finance professional to lead and manage all aspects of accounting and bookkeeping for Oahas. This role is responsible for advancing the development, implementation, and evaluation of the organization's finance and financial administration activities.

  • Building Financial Literacy and Planning Capacity

This includes summarizing the financial health status and generating accurate monthly financial reports. The Director, Finance will also oversee the administration of Oahas banking activities, maintain general accounts and program accounts, and ensure compliance with municipal, provincial, and federal legislation.

Responsibilities

Financial Services:

  • Responsible for the integrity and accuracy of the agency's accounting transactions and records
  • Maintains general account, program accounts, and other required ledgers
  • Sums up financial health status and generates accurate monthly financial reports

Payroll Administration:

  • Ensures completion of bi-weekly payroll process and leads budget management of staff allocations and coding
  • Maintains financial reports and tools

Banking Administration:

  • Oversees the administration of Oahas banking activities
  • Liaises with the bank to update official signatories and fulfill banking requirements

Adherence to External Regulatory Bodies:

  • Ensures compliance with municipal, provincial, and federal legislation
  • Ensures timely completion/payment of all corporate taxes/remittances

Planning, Development, Research, and Evaluation:

  • Supports cross-training in financial planning activities
  • Leads co-development of the annual operational budget

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of financial management experience, preferably in a non-profit and/or charitable organization
  • Experience in mentoring and financial literacy coaching and training
  • Proven experience in leading project-based finance operations in fast-paced environments
  • Diploma/degree in a relevant field, including Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and financial management software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

Estimated salary: $80,000 - $100,000 per annum.
