About the Role

Sun Life Financial Inc. is seeking a seasoned professional to lead our Disability Pricing and Profitability Management team. As a key member of our Group Benefits Finance team, you will be responsible for driving profitable growth and managing emerging risks on our disability portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  • Pricing and Profitability Management
    • Determine optimal pricing levels based on financial objectives, market insights, and competitive dynamics.
    • Develop and enhance pricing models to ensure accurate and reliable results.
    • Own the generalized pricing framework used by our Underwriting team to price Short-Term Disability and Long-Term Disability business.
    • Support Underwriting and Business Development on bespoke and large transactions.
  • Disability Performance Monitoring and Analysis
    • Monitor and explain monthly and quarterly results to stakeholders.
    • Provide regular forecasts and enhance our forecasting capabilities to inform business decisions.
    • Collaborate with reinsurance partners to share market insights and drive business growth.
    • Support our planning process to ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Leadership and Team Management
    • Lead a team of four associates and one co-op, providing guidance and support to ensure their success.
    • Attract, develop, and retain a high-performing team that drives business results.
    • Contribute to the Group Benefits Pricing Leadership Team to drive strategic decision-making.
Requirements
  • Qualified FSA and/or FCIA designation.
  • 7 years of relevant experience in the Insurance or Group Benefits industry.
  • Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills to drive actionable insights.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to adapt messaging for various audiences.
  • Driven to understand the business and underlying factors impacting results.
  • Collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
  • Ability to lead projects and manage multiple priorities.
  • Takes initiative and drives results-oriented outcomes.
  • Keen interest in improving analyses, processes, and reporting.
  • Bilingualism (French and English, both oral and written) is required for Quebec-based roles, as the position involves managing both French and English-speaking staff and providing daily support to the team.
