Job Summary

The shíshálh Nation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced After-Hours Safety Liaison to join our team. As a key member of our Supportive Family Housing Program, this role will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of our program participants and staff on-site.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitoring and Response: Monitor the site between 9 pm – 5 am, responding to suspicious activity, noise disturbances, and other safety concerns.
  • Communication and Support: Communicate effectively with program participants, staff, and first responders to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Work closely with the Supportive Family Housing Program Team Lead and Family Support Workers to provide day-to-day support and feedback on safety improvements.
  • Conflict Resolution and De-escalation: Utilize conflict resolution and de-escalation training to manage challenging situations and ensure a safe and respectful environment.
  • Client Support and Guidance: Provide help and guidance to on-site program participants through safety support, ensuring their comfort and well-being.
  • Qualifications and Skills: Three (3) years of front-line experience working with people in a service-oriented workplace, with some prior experience ensuring safety and security from a non-violent perspective.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Three (3) years of front-line experience working with people in a service-oriented workplace.
  • Conflict Resolution and De-escalation Training: Conflict resolution and de-escalation training and experience.
  • Indigenous Community Experience: Experience working with indigenous people, organizations, and communities.
  • Technology and Tools: Proficient in using technology and other tools required to work remotely.
  • Driver's License and Vehicle Insurance: Valid driver's license, current vehicle insurance certificate, and access to reliable transportation.
  • Communication and Analytical Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with analytical skills, sound judgment, and decision-making skills to assess situations and determine the best possible outcomes.
  • Database and MS Office Skills: Proficient in using MS Office programs with advanced knowledge of Excel and strong database skills.
