Job Summary:

The Shíshálh Nation is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Safety and Security Liaison to join our team. As a key member of our Supportive Family Housing Program, this role will be responsible for ensuring the safety and comfort of program participants during nighttime hours.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Site Monitoring: Conduct regular patrols of the site to identify and address potential safety concerns.
  • Emergency Response: Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations, including incidents of suspicious activity or conflict.
  • Communication: Maintain open and transparent communication with program participants, staff, and emergency services to ensure a safe and supportive environment.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Supportive Family Housing Program Team Lead and Family Support Workers to identify and implement safety improvements.
  • Training and Development: Participate in regular training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge in areas such as conflict resolution, de-escalation, and emergency response.
Requirements:
  • Experience: A minimum of three years of frontline service experience, preferably in a safety or security role.
  • Qualifications: Prior experience in non-violent safety and security measures, training in conflict resolution and de-escalation, and experience working with indigenous communities.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, analytical and decision-making abilities, and proficiency in technology and remote work tools.
  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a post-secondary education in a related field is an asset.
