About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Indigenous Engagement and Community Development Specialist to join our team at the Indigenous Centre for Cumulative Effects. This is a full-time position, and we offer a competitive salary of $85,000 - $110,000 per year, depending on experience.

As an Indigenous Engagement and Community Development Specialist, you will play a key role in building and maintaining relationships with Indigenous communities across Canada. You will facilitate networking and knowledge sharing to support cumulative effects work that actively includes communities' knowledge.

You will conduct capacity-building activities such as roundtables and webinars, and assist in creating communication materials that effectively convey concepts related to cumulative effects within Indigenous perspectives to diverse audiences.

In this role, you will provide guidance on Indigenous perspectives regarding cumulative effects to ICCE colleagues and partners. You will also support the ongoing maintenance and improvement of ICCE content-related services and assist in event planning.

You will support the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) to promote discussions and outputs that reflect Indigenous perspectives on cumulative effects. You will also participate in data collection and needs assessments to inform ongoing activities.

To be successful in this role, you will have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Indigenous studies, environmental science, geography, land-use planning, or a related field. You will also have 5+ years of experience in the field of Indigenous engagement or 5+ years of working for an Indigenous community or an Indigenous organization.

You will have experience in the field of cumulative effects management, assessment, and monitoring, or related fields, which is an asset. You will also have proven ability to build and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities and understanding of Indigenous governance structures and processes.

You will have strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively. You will be proficient in tools such as Google Workspace, Slack, and Zoom; experience with GIS software is an asset.

Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and contribute to a positive organizational culture is essential. Persons of Indigenous ancestry will be given preference.
