Job Summary

We are seeking an Indigenous Engagement and Knowledge Specialist to lead consultation and engagement activities in Ontario, working alongside our wider Environmental specialists. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of experience working on Environmental programs with First Nations and Indigenous communities.

About the Role

This role involves developing and coordinating Indigenous, stakeholder, and regulatory engagement programs, including communication materials, workshops, open houses, and reporting. You will also review Indigenous Knowledge studies and incorporate information into environmental impact assessments. Additionally, you will support the assessment of project impacts on Indigenous and Treaty Rights and Interests.

Your Responsibilities

  1. Develop and coordinate Indigenous, stakeholder, and regulatory engagement programs.
  2. Review Indigenous Knowledge studies and incorporate information into environmental impact assessments.
  3. Support the assessment of project impacts on Indigenous and Treaty Rights and Interests.
  4. Develop and maintain project/task schedules and budgets for engagement.
  5. Support business development efforts, including potential client/prospect identification and proposal writing.
  6. Participate in industry events through presentations at conferences or industry organizations.

About You

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Environmental Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Biology, Social Science, or similar. You should have strong written and verbal communication skills in English, and French language skills are considered an asset. Lived experience is a strong asset, and OCAP certification/knowledge is an asset.
