Job Description

The Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre is seeking a skilled and compassionate Community Service Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for developing and implementing community programs that promote social and economic well-being among Indigenous people.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, co-ordinate and implement the delivery of specific services within the community, including counseling sessions, case management, and community outreach.
  • Liaise with other social services agencies and healthcare providers involved with clients to ensure comprehensive support.
  • Assist clients/guests with special needs, such as accompaniment to appointments and social outings.
  • Maintain program statistics for purposes of evaluation and research, and assist in evaluating the effectiveness of treatment programs.
  • Establish registry of special needs support workers and facilitate access to Elders who can offer support and guidance to Indigenous workers.
Requirements:
  • A minimum of a college/CEGEP diploma or equivalent experience in a related field, such as social work or community development.
  • Previous experience in this field of employment is an asset.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with ability to work effectively with diverse groups and individuals.
  • Certificates in First Aid, CPR, and Vulnerable Sector Check are required.
