Senior Safety and Security Director

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Safety and Security Director to lead our team in St. Thomas, ON.
As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and management of health, safety, security, and emergency response programs within our PowerCo SE St. Thomas Gigafactory site.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Leading an interdisciplinary team to manage HSE, Security, and Emergency Response during design, construction, and operation phases;
- Liaising with senior management, external partners, and regulators to ensure compliance with statutory requirements and corporate standards;
- Developing and implementing site-specific safety and environmental management systems to achieve international best practices and internal PowerCo requirements;
- Maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders, including employees, contractors, suppliers, and local communities;
- Providing expert advice on health, safety, security, and fire protection issues;
To succeed in this role, you should possess:
- A Master's degree in Health, Safety, or Environmental science;
- No less than 10 years' experience in a Health, Safety, or Environmental role as a regulator or within a regulated facility;
- A minimum of 5 years of HSE experience in leading a multi-disciplinary team and working as a regulator or in a regulated facility, with at least 2 years in the lithium-ion battery manufacturing sector;
- Strong leadership skills, excellent communication abilities, and a solutions-driven approach;
- Familiarity with risk management tools, such as HAZID, HAZOP, PSR, LOPA, SIL, etc., and experience in managing major accident hazard assessments;
- Experience in crisis management and fostering a positive safety culture;
- A postgraduate degree or diploma in a technical area related to HSE provision and/or qualification in Leadership from an internationally recognized organization;
