The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) is a leading insurance organization in North America, covering over five million people in more than 300,000 workplaces across Ontario. We are dedicated to helping individuals recover from work-related injuries or illnesses, providing no-fault collective liability insurance, and promoting workplace health and safety.
Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Director, Total Rewards to shape and execute our Total Rewards strategy. As a key member of our HR team, you will drive efforts to attract, retain, engage, and motivate talent across the organization by overseeing compensation, benefits, rewards, and recognition programs.
Key Responsibilities:- Total Rewards Strategy Development: Develop and implement a competitive and relevant Total Rewards strategy aligned with our strategic objectives and Employee Value Proposition (EVP), including compensation and benefits philosophy, recognition programs, and AI-enabled tools to enhance the employee experience.
- Total Rewards Administration: Manage the daily operations of Compensation and Benefits programs, ensuring alignment with organizational design and compliance with legislative changes. Oversee financial planning and reporting related to Total Rewards and support budget management.
- Consultation and Collaboration: Serve as an expert advisor to senior management, providing strategic guidance on Total Rewards programs and policies, including support during collective bargaining processes. Collaborate with HR Business Partners and leaders to align compensation impacts with organizational design.
- EVP Application: Lead the integration of the EVP into Total Rewards offerings, supporting initiatives that communicate our commitment to employee well-being and value. Oversee annual Total Rewards statements and contribute to Top Employer applications.
- Vendor Management: Engage with strategic vendors to support benchmarking, best practices, and innovative program development, ensuring effective partnerships that enhance Total Rewards administration and alignment with industry standards.
- 8-10 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 3-5 years in a management or leadership role focused on Total Rewards strategy, program design, and senior-level reporting.
- Previous experience in compensation, benefits strategy, and leveraging Total Rewards as part of the EVP is essential.
- A strong foundation in project management and change management, backed by hands-on experience in leading HR transformations.
- Knowledge of data science and AI applications within Total Rewards is an asset.
The estimated salary for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, based on industry standards and regional location factors.
